What Is Individual Therapy?

One of the most important aspects of individual therapy is the relationship established between the client and the therapist. The therapist is in a position of accompanying the process, supporting the client in deepening their work on their problems and in gaining understanding and acceptance.
There are many different schools and techniques of psychotherapy. Every therapist has completed training in their specific field of practice and uses the technique they specialize in during sessions.
Among the approaches and orientations used in therapy sessions are techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Therapy, Existential Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapies, and Systemic Therapy.
